ZocDoc: My new favorite website

Healthcare sucks.  But you know what sucks more, talking to healthcare providers on the phone.  I hate having to make discrete and often embarrassing appointment calls in my open office, talking to desk nurses who couldn't give a damn.  And along comes web 2.0.

A friend (the CTO) had told me about ZocDoc a few years back but I don't think I ever even looked at it.  At the time I had incredible insurance and had no need to find new doctors.  But as the health care crisis rages on, I'm constantly having to look for new doctors.

ZocDoc is "a free service that allows patients to book Doctor appointments online."  It also allows you to read reviews and see where various doctors who take your insurance are on a map.

I can't say enough good things about this service.  You must, must, must try it out.

Lose it or Lose it

A new weight loss web site has popped up.  This one has an interesting way of motivating you to lose the weight: money.  Basically you purchase a plan, try to lose the weight and if you do, you get your money back.  If not, bye bye cash.  It seems a little expensive for me (to lose 1 pound per week for 10 weeks would cost me $100 if I don't meet my goals) but it is intriguing.

Would you try something like this?  Would it motivate you?
