Some of you don’t know this, but I was a music education major. I was supposed to spend my days teaching munchkins solfège and complaining how they don’t pay public school teacher enough. But somewhere in the middle of my schooling I had a minor freak out where I decided that it was entirely too much responsibility to teach. I did not want to be the one responsible for ruining any child’s love of music. So I finished my degree and moved on to a techy career.
But with great power comes great responsibility…I’ve been asked to teach. And I have taught a few courses at NYU. I decided that I was finished with that and finished with teaching because it stressed me out. But I started subbing at SVA and then was asked to teach there. Stupidly, I said yet. So Tuesday I started my 12-week intermediate Flash class. The first day went better than I expected and I’m hoping it will get less painful as the weeks progress.
